I had hoped they would share what was the cause, but I am still waiting. I am glad to hear you agree it is unacceptable to arbitrarily impose a ban this way. I would love to advise them! :-) Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Thank you for sharing the process. Did you ever figure out what might have caused it? They should be transparent about that, too. (I do not trust anything any internet founder says, ever, especially the Substack guy who pretends this platform isn’t going the way of all social media.)
Thank you for sharing this, Jayshree. Very alarming. I think it is unacceptable that you are not given the reasons that your publication was banned. This question will likely show my ignorance of how algorithms work, but is it possible that the reason they haven't shared that information is that they do not know, which would be even scarier. I would like to see a formal response from Substack about this issue and what they are going to do to make it better. I am very grateful for what you do here and all the really useful information you provide. I look forward to reading the future posts you referenced in your article.
Wow I can’t believe how calm you are. If that happened to me I am afraid of what I might do or say. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks David! I tried hard! :-)
Sounds like an absolute nightmare. I wondered what had happened.
It was, and I still don't know why!
Thank you for sharing this information. It really useful to know! Hopefully they will make changes and upgrades following your feedback.
I hope so too, though unless it affects a million paying subs newsletter, I doubt it!
At least you warned us on this matter.
I'm so sorry this happened to you! I'm glad you got your publication back and running.
Thanks Daniel, I appreciate that.
It's unacceptable to sell us on the idea that we're building a business then arbitrarily suspend your account without so much as a notice or a reason.
They need to go ahead and hire you as an advisor. Your thoughts on improving Substack have always been spot on.

Thanks Joy! Glad to share - I still don't know why though I asked for an explanation.
