Substack: What’s With the @Mention Not Working for Some Writers?

publication post that he was unable to reference me. I was unsure why, because I had been mentioned by others. So, I went digging.

I discovered that Substack has a hidden Privacy setting!

By default, your privacy is protected which is a good thing but not so good, when it is hidden away from all of the other community and notification settings on your dashboard.

I understand why this may be so, but more on that in an insight post!

A simple fix:

1. Click on the Profile Menu in the upper right-hand corner under your photo or image. Select ‘Settings.’ Scroll down to ‘Privacy.’

2. Toggle the setting to turn on mentions.

It is a bit finicky, as I discovered, so if you have it turned off, and still see some call-outs, don’t be surprised!
