Hello folks!
commented on my publication post that he was unable to reference me. I was unsure why, because I had been mentioned by others. So, I went digging.I discovered that Substack has a hidden Privacy setting!
By default, your privacy is protected which is a good thing but not so good, when it is hidden away from all of the other community and notification settings on your dashboard.
I understand why this may be so, but more on that in an insight post!
A simple fix:
Click on the Profile Menu in the upper right-hand corner under your photo or image. Select ‘Settings.’ Scroll down to ‘Privacy.’
Toggle the setting to turn on mentions.
It is a bit finicky, as I discovered, so if you have it turned off, and still see some call-outs, don’t be surprised!
Thanks,
for making me aware of it!If you found this helpful, please like, comment or share!
Gosh, @Jayshree Gururaj, I'm so glad I've found you! Worthy a mention here how annoying it is that @Mentions don't work in comments but DO work in Notes and Chat. Mind-boggling. To add it to a note you have to tap the 👇 "Also share a note" and then edit it. Crazy. Oh... and please don't tap "more comments" after you've entered a lengthy comment... Ya lose everything. Bonkers.
Thanks for this Jayshree! Now I'll see if I can follow your instructions...Everyone back up! Genius at work!
