Substack: Two Settings to Leverage for Traffic and to Block AI Models.

Quick reminder if you haven’t done this already. Under your Dashboard Settings, select ‘Publication Details,’ and toggle these settings to ‘On.’

The first boosts visibility on Google and other search engines.

The second prevents AI models from using your content for training. But it may block your content from being discovered organically via Google Search.

Experiment and see how the organic search works (enter publication or author name in Google Search) - sometime in the future, it will be possible to distinguish AI bots, from search bots. But, for now, you may have to decide if being found on search is important to you.

Unfortunately, the first setting doesn’t work as well as Medium’s in making your posts visible online. Even with the ‘Block AI’ turned off.
